Word gets around i guess

Today, Shalvah was invited over to her friend Meredith. They go to school together, but they're not in the same class; Meredith is four. Apparently, before inviting us, Meredith's mom mentioned that Shalvah is younger, and asked if that's OK. Meredith said "yeah, she's younger, but she wears underpants..."

Shalvah @ the Inauguration

Shalvah was one of the multitudes celebrating President Obama's inauguration on that freezing January day--as this blogger recorded for posterity: http://blogs.suntimes.com/inauguration/preparation

Here's a cut-and-paste of it:

"Twenty one-month-old Shalvah Lazarus, whose first name means "tranquility," looks on at the "We Are One" Inaugural Celebration concert. Her mother said she's been an Obama fan since 15 months.

Lazarus' grandmother is New Hampshire House of Representatives Member Emma Rous, who is also the chairwoman of the House education committee.

Rous called the concert "thrilling. It's a new day in America," she said."

Shalvah probably is only one of many toddlers of her generation who knew how to say "Obama" on cue (i.e., who's the President?) before she knew how to say her own name... and knew the word "inauguration" before ever taking a civics class. Plus, she's always sticking up for number two. Whenever she hears about Obama on the radio, she always reminds us, "and Joe Biden." She cares about the little guy.
